Free isn’t usually what we think of when talking about Las Vegas. And when people say something is free usually there is a catch. It turns out there are more free things to do in Las Vegas than you would expect. Here are five of the best actually free things to do in Las Vegas.

1. Get Your Picture Taken at the Las Vegas Sign

It’s a must, especially if it is your first trip to Vegas. And yes, it’s free. The famous sign is located off of the strip so I would suggest driving if possible. It’s super easy to find using your GPS. The address is 5200 Las Vegas Blvd. S. Las Vegas NV 89119. Know that there is guaranteed to be someone hustling tourists for tips in exchange for taking the picture. We’re all here for the same reason so just ask the person behind you in line and return the favor (and yes, I said line.) This is definitely the best free thing to do in Las Vegas!

2. Visit the Ever Changing Bellagio Conservatory

There are a few hotels on the strip that have their own unique experience or attraction and the Bellagio conservatory is one of the most popular. Just past the hotel lobby is a (free to view) display of beautiful flowers and plants that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The display changes based on the season so it is just as magical whether it’s your first time or tenth time seeing it.

3. Wander Off the Strip to the Seven Magic Mountains

If you’re up for an adventure off the busy strip visit a pile of rocks in the desert! No really though this art installation should not be missed. Located about thirty minutes from the strip is the colorful art exhibit created by Ugo Rondinone. Seven giant stacks of colorful, Instagram worthy rocks. For directions visit sevenmagicmountains.com

4. Rock Along to the Bellagio Fountain Show

One of the most iconic free Las Vegas attractions is the fountain show right in front of the Bellagio hotel. The best thing about the show is that it plays often enough so you don’t have to plan your day around seeing it. The fountains go off Monday-Friday every thirty minutes from 3pm-6:30pm and every fifteen minutes from 7pm-12am. Weekend times are every thirty minutes from noon-6:30pm and every fifteen minutes from 7pm-12am. The fountains are choreographed to different songs each time so you could see a different variation of the show each time you pass by.

5. Take in the Chaos of the Las Vegas Strip

Thats right y’all, people watching. It’s free and oh so entertaining. The strip can get wild and there is always something (or someone) to see. Between street performers and drunken tourists you’ll never run out of free entertainment. The fun thing about people watching is you’ll always leave with a different story to tell.

This list is shorter than a lot of similar articles but these are the free things actually worth your time. Sure something can be free, but is it worth it? These five free things are definitely worth it and prove that you can visit Las Vegas on a budget.
