Once you’ve decided to take a trip to Las Vegas one of the first things you’ll do is find a place to stay. Deciding where to stay when visiting Las Vegas depends on your budget and what kind of vibe you’re looking for. I’m here to tell you that whatever option you choose you are sure to have a blast; I mean it is Vegas after all!

Where to Stay on the Las Vegas Strip

As a frequent visitor I 100% recommend staying on the strip for the easiest access to all of the iconic Las Vegas sites. The strip is 4.2 miles of hotels, shopping, and just about any type of food you could imagine. There are tons of hotels to choose from but my main advice is to stay as close to the middle of the strip as possible. As a rule I like to be as close to The Bellagio as possible.

Once you decide to stay on the strip you need to decide between a luxury hotel or a more budget friendly option.

Luxury Hotel

If you aren’t planning on ever visiting Vegas again then it might be worth it to splurge on a luxury hotel. These hotels are often home to all of the top notch restaurants as well as the more popular shows and clubs. A few of my favorite include Caesars Palace, The Venetian, and The Bellagio. These high end hotels will have the best casinos, pools, and other unique experiences. Caesars Palace is a nerdy girls DREAM and the the home to the famous Nobu restaurant. One of the most famous free “shows” in Las Vegas is the Bellagio fountain show, so don’t miss this one!

Budget Friendly

There are a TON of budget friendly options on the strip but keep in mind there are also a few of not so great options (in my opinion). I find that most of the rooms I’ve stayed in are pretty much the same but the actual hotels themselves are different. My favorite budget hotels are The Linq and Harrahs. Both are in the middle of the action and surrounded by everything you might want.  If I had to recommend one budget hotel it would be Harrahs. It isn’t the most fancy hotel but the location is the bomb dot com and it puts me where I want to be!

Where to Stay Off the Las Vegas Strip

While staying on the strip is the more popular choice there are a couple of off strip options that can give you a different Vegas experience.

Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas is home to the Freemont Street Experience as well as a number of hotels. While 2-6 miles from the main strip, Freemont Street is home to a more classic Vegas feeling.  Neon lights and affordable hotels including Four Queens and The Golden Nugget make downtown Las Vegas a good option for those who don’t mind hopping into an Uber to get to the strip.

Vacation Rental

It’s no surprise that Airbnb and other vacation rental sites are popping up around Las Vegas. I haven’t personally stayed in a vacation rental while visiting but I think it’s a good option for longer trips or trips with larger groups. Splitting the cost with a larger group could really save some money that could be spent on exploring.

Where Not to Stay While Visiting Las Vegas

Like I mentioned there are a few hotels that I avoid when planning a trip to Las Vegas. These include anything on either end of the strip. Hotels including the Excalibur and Treasure Island are on the very ends of the four mile long strip and even a walk from your room the street is WAY longer than you would expect, so save your time (and your feet) and stay towards the middle of the strip. Circus Circus and the Wynn are a couple more popular hotels that are pretty far from the center of the strip.

Pro tip, maybe stay away from anything under $35 a night LOL

Seven Magic Mountains

So there you have it! Choosing where to stay when visiting Las Vegas doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether that’s on or off the strip, the city that never sleeps has somewhere for everybody. Have you ever been to Sin City? Let me know!
